Miki Starr is a St. Paul-based author, music producer, and the founder of ReignStorm Publishing. With a prolific career featuring 11 published titles, Miki has established herself as a master of the narrative arc.
Now, she is shattering the "fourth wall" of fiction with The Goldenborn Legacy, a first-of-its-kind "Cinematic Trilogy." Acting as a one-woman production studio, Miki has expanded her storytelling into the real world—writing the lyrics and directing the sonic identity for 54 custom tracks. By meticulously mastering the AI-assisted outputs, she ensured a cohesive, professional soundscape that allows readers to hear the heart of her world.
A Chicago native with deep Twin Cities roots, Miki’s work sits at the intersection of Afrofuturism, speculative fiction, and high-level music production. She is a pioneer for independent creators, proving that with vision and technology, a single voice can build an entire universe.

Technical Director’s Note:
The Making of The Goldenborn Legacy
Creating The Goldenborn Legacy in sound and visual required moving beyond the role of a traditional author and stepping into the role of a Technical Director. To bridge the gap between the written word and a cinematic experience, I utilized a 'Human-in-the-Loop' production philosophy.
Sonic Engineering: As the Lead Lyricist and Sound Architect, I converted the trilogy’s narrative themes into 54 custom tracks. I directed the AI-assisted production through complex, iterative prompt-engineering to maintain a consistent "Goldenborn" sound—a fusion of Afrofuturist gospel and atmospheric R&B. I then served as the final Mastering Engineer to ensure a professional, cohesive audio experience.
Visual Direction & Sora: Using Sora as a primary visual engine, I acted as a director to build a "visual blueprint" for the Maren Kai music and promo videos. This involved meticulous storyboarding, directing character continuity across generated clips, and executing post-production in Premiere to sync visuals and lip movements to my original scores.
Foley & Immersive Sound: To ground the digital world in reality, I layered custom Foley sound design—from the mechanical hum of motorcycles to the clinks of glasses at the bar—into both the music videos and the final audio tracks. These hand-crafted soundscapes ensure that the listener is fully immersed in the environment of the Goldenborn universe.
This project is a testament to what a single independent creator can achieve when they master the intersection of high-level technology and ancient storytelling."
