"The Voice of the People"
Maren Kai (born Alison Medo Talarin Kaivar—Talarin meaning “story” in Old Gelish) was raised on Marieux’s Iron Row, in the shadow of The City’s most toxic factories. Marinite by both blood and spirit, she grew up breathing the fumes that had sickened generations, her own family included. By adolescence, she had already buried two brothers: the youngest claimed by factory-borne illness, the eldest taken by the Shadow Realm Allegiance. Her mother died giving birth to her fifth child, leaving Maren to be raised by her father in a home marked by grief, grit, and survival.
As a young woman, she lived through the Blessed Battle and the Ascendant Wars, witnessing the rise and fall of the United Citizens Liberation Coalition from the very building where her neighbor, the now infamous, Francine (Franny) Ahlwin once lived. Though rumors persist that Maren herself fought with the UCLC, she neither confirms nor denies it. What she has admitted openly is that she fought during the Ascendant Wars—striking blows, carrying losses, and watching friends disappear into history before the world was ready to remember them.
Growing up, Maren loved to sing, but music was dangerous back then—anything that drew attention risked being silenced or taken by the SRA, whether to the Facilities or recruited to Sisters of the Allegiance (SOTA). So she sang in secret: in stairwells, behind rusted factory pipes, into the hollow of her palms. After the war, silence lingered. Even with peace, people were afraid to speak of what they’d survived. Stories were hoarded, hidden, whispered only to the dead. But Maren believed silence itself was another kind of war—one she refused to lose.
Over a decade after the Ascendant Wars, she felt an urgent call to preserve the truth. She became the first to brave telling these stories publicly—collecting memories, recording songs, and honoring the rebels who gave everything. Though she never met the Goldenborn, she often recounts the one brief moment she stood in her presence—a memory she holds like a blessing.
Her music is not entertainment; it’s testimony. Each track is a living archive, carved from the marrow of survival, courage, and the divine sparks left behind by those who refused to die unheard.
"Our history was almost erased—buried under ash, fear, and silence. I sing so their names don’t disappear with them."

Goldenborn Legacy
Music of the Anointed

A sonic companion to Olivia, Rebirth of the Anointed, this soundtrack channels the unrest of Marieux, the weight of prophecy, and the intimate fears of a girl hiding her own light. Maren Kai gives voice to Olivia Kalaath’s internal struggle—between survival and destiny, between disbelief and the truth she can no longer outrun. These songs echo the moment her world fractures… and the moment she chooses who she will be.

Inspired by Olivia, Rise of the Anointed, this soundtrack captures a world bracing for war. Maren Kai’s voice—joined by the harmonies of those who stood with her—brings to life the rebellions gathering strength, the tightening threat of the Allegiance, and Olivia Kalaath’s reluctant ascent into prophecy. Each track echoes the bonds, the betrayals, and the fragile hope that push her toward the battles ahead.

Inspired by Olivia, Reckoning of the Anointed, and gives voice to the final struggle for Marieux. Maren Kai—joined by old allies, new voices, the Korr-Cantare, and the Chorus of Eternal Light—leads a soundscape shaped by rising war, ruptured loyalties, and the crushing weight of destiny. Each track reflects the battles, the betrayals, and the moment Olivia Kalaath must define what it means to be the Anointed.

The Warrior's Voice
Before she ever recorded a single note, Maren Kai was known across Iron Row for her tireless devotion to her people. Her community named her Lothvorum tu Marenium—the one who serves the many—long before she became the Orin Korr of Sound. These images capture the artist not just on stage, but in the world she fights to lift, honor, and remember.
"If the children of Marieux grow up knowing the truth, then none of us died for nothing."

ABOUT THE SOUNDTRACK

Music of the Anointed
Miki Starr is the author of The Goldenborn Legacy (also known as the Anointed series), a trilogy she began writing in 2009 and developed over a span of fifteen years. As the world of Marieux deepened—particularly through the writing of Rise and Reckoning—the story grew so vivid and emotionally layered that it eventually demanded expression beyond the page.
During the writing process, Starr created a detailed, chapter-by-chapter playlist to capture the emotional architecture of each scene, unknowingly building the foundation for an original soundtrack. When new technology later made composing possible, the transition felt natural: the music emerged as an extension of the storytelling itself.
For Starr, this soundtrack offered her a way to stay in the world just a little longer, to make the story’s emotional resonance audible, and to give readers and listeners a distinctive entry point into a crowded indie landscape. The result is a multi-sensory experience that invites audiences not only to read the Goldenborn saga, but to feel it.

Miki Starr is a multi-genre author and creator of The Goldenborn Legacy. She fuses storytelling, sound, and visual worldbuilding to create deeply emotional, immersive narrative experiences.
"Write what you know... then, write what you don't know."
